On 12 May 2015 the second attempt to build a wind farm on Spittal Hill, Caithness was refused after appeal by Mr Timothy Brian
A scoping document was submitted to the Scottish Executive in July 2004. The original proposal consisted of plans for 47 turbines along both sides of the A9. However, after considering the results of the environmental studies, proposals were reduced to 30 turbines in order to address landscape, ornithology and noise issues. However in June 2012, this plan was rejected by the Scottish Government primarily due to amenity from nearby houses and landscape impacts.
